About FinalOut
Built by a Senior Master Sergeant closing in on 19 years of service, setting a retirement date for the next 12 months, who got tired of watching TAP hand people a stack of 40 different websites and call it a plan.
The idea started in a TAP classroom. A week of briefers reading slides, no room to ask "what if I do this instead," and a list of dozens of separate sites to go figure the rest out on your own. It's information people should get handed two or three years before they separate — not the week before.
When I started planning my own transition, I found nothing that put BDD windows, reserve point math, TRICARE deadlines, TSP penalty logic, and career tools in one place — without asking for my SSN, uploading my records, or pretending to be a government site. So I built it. The goal is simple: help people leave the military without undervaluing themselves — get paid what they're worth, and get the VA rating they actually earned.
FinalOut is not a commercial venture. It is a mission-driven platform built to cover hosting costs only, while helping the people who served. It is free. It will stay free.
How we stay funded
Contextual (non-behavioral) ads on public calculator pages only. Vetted affiliate links on the resources page with full FTC-compliant disclosure. An optional Supporter tier ($5/month) for members who want an ad-free experience and unlimited scenarios.
No ads on your dashboard. No ads on your saved plans. No ads on VA planning, records, reminders, or export pages. Period.
What we never do
- Ask for your SSN, full DOB, or dependent names
- Accept DD214, medical record, or STR uploads
- Store raw PHI or ePHI
- Impersonate VA, DoD, DFAS, or any government agency
- Guarantee VA ratings or benefit outcomes
- Sell your data or use inputs for ad targeting
Trust is the product
TAP offices, VSOs, unit career counselors, and peer networks refer members to FinalOut because it is good and honest — not because anyone paid to be listed. The platform does not sell to organizations. Organizations do not pay to be listed.
Plan with confidence. Transition with purpose.
